What to do with my 'junk' car?
saje388 asked:
My car died on Friday and my mechanic said there is no point in fixing it because it needs a new engine. It is such an awesome car and I'm so sad to see it go (1994 Ford Thunderbird). After calling a ton of places, the most I can get is $100 to sell it for scrap
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can make a little more money than that?

The fuel mileage of a 94 Ford is good enough that it wouldn't quality for the cash for clunkers program, even if the program was still running, so ignore that answer.
Frankly, I'd put a sign on it, for sale, bad engine, as is, $250 or best offer, and see what you get.

Try a couple more mechanics before you give up.

If you really like the car, a 94 Thunderbird is a great car, and if the car is in good shape, have a used engine put in it. That would be a lot cheaper than buying another car.

If you call a scrap yard, they'll rip you off. Look in your classified ads for people who will pay you, and tow it off.

You can donate it in some states to charity vendors and get a tax credit. louisiana has Bridgehouse and they take them running or not, as long as its not total junk.
