Im trying to sell a junk car that the title was stolen from. I called the scrap yard and it came back as a surrendered title and they can't buy my car. Any idea what a surrendered title is?

My 95 Camry just died (Transmission shot). I know there are items in that car that are worth $$$. I am thinking I can make more than the local yards will give me (Which is around $150).

Where do junk yards sell the old cars (by pound) that people either give away to them or sell to them? Is there a place where I can sell my old car directly to the buyers and not have the junk yard resell my old car to the metal scrap buyers for more money?
Where can I find these junk car buyers in the Chicago area (that are not junk yards but places that buy the cars per pound)?

I'm not looking to fully dismantle the car but take off the valuable parts and sell those to the yard separately. Any detail you can go into about taking off the parts would be appreciated.

I have a 97 saab. It looks great but it's been having lots of mechanical problems lately. I've put in 2 new direct ignition cassettes (and now it needs a third), I've put on new tires, a new main ignition relay. According to the dealer, it needs a vacuum hose and a speed sensor as well as the direct ignition cassette. But who knows…there could be more.

I was in the process of getting the title for my car so i could junk it. The problem is that it was towed today and now sits in an impound collecting a $50 a day charge. The state (ca) cannot get me a real title for 60 days so i cannot sign over the title to the tow company. So the car is going to sit there for 30 days then they (tow company) will sell it at auction. Whats going to happen to me as far as fees? Will the tow company come after me? Should i pay the current fines and have them tow it back to my house until i get the title?

I am legally separated from my wife. A couple of weeks ago, my car died, and it's going to cost much more to fix it than it's worth. I would like to get rid of the car – sell it to a junkyard or something like that – but my wife refuses to sign the title in order for me to do that, even though she would get half of whatever I get for the car. Right now the car is at the repair shop and is not drive-able. I have no place to which I can tow and store the car until I'm able to get rid of it – whenever that is; my wife lives with her mother, and I'm inclined (in spite of her threats to me to not do so) to have the car towed there, leave the title (signed by me) in the car, and tell her to deal with it in any way she pleases. The registration is about to expire on the car, and I don't want to re-register it as it would be a waste of time and money given the condition of the car.

My car died on Friday and my mechanic said there is no point in fixing it because it needs a new engine. It is such an awesome car and I'm so sad to see it go (1994 Ford Thunderbird). After calling a ton of places, the most I can get is $100 to sell it for scrap Does anyone have any ideas on how I can make a little more money than that?

I want to sell parts from my car on ebay? Any other suggestions. It's a 99 mercury cougar. The lifters are gone, the engine has seized, three mechanics (including those at the dealer) have said there's nothing left to do to it but send to a junkyard.

I have a 1995 Nissan Altima (180K miles), it still runs, but the body is in rough shape, and it has a lot of mechanical problems. It does continue to run and make a 70 mile trip each day. So far it has been very reliable, but looks like crap. Would I get more money to scrap it or try and sell it on craigslist as a junk car and list all the problems?
