How much (roughly) could I get for my car at a junkyard?

My car has lived a long 200,000 mile life. Unfortunately, things don't last for ever. Especially transmissions =p.

I have a 1997 Toyota Avalon. A bit of rust. and a few dents and dings.
So, If i were to junk my car, how much could i get for it…. roughly?
And (this question is very very very rough) if i were to sell my car to a used car dealership, roughly how much could i get?

they usually wont give you more than 500 bucks for any junker

Junk yards normally don't give that much for cars, especially if its not a rare car, maybe $500 or $600. Thats why some ppl part out there cars, selling parts off it till its stripped, then go crush it for about $100 at a metal salvage yard.

$150 at a junkyard.
A used car dealership probably would give you about the same…maybe a little more.
You would be better off parting it out.
If the car runs even ok, you could probably sell it to a private party for $500.
It might take a little while to sell it, but it depends on how long you are willing to hang onto it.
