Car got towed. They say it is mine. I sold it. It is junk. I have NO PINK SLIP?

In CA. Sold a car end of 2004. He never registered it. The paperwork came to me. I sent a Liability release that was never filed. They want $28 day storage and pink slip to stop fees.
1. I don't want nor own the car.
2. I have no pink slip to get it signed over.
3. How do I rectify this?
Javier Macias is the name. He is a Mexican National who returned to his home country.
